Friday Fictioneers: Childhood Memories

Madison has another guest Photo Prompt this week. And boy does it bring back some good times. But I'm not looking towards the past I'm moving forward. So are these folks sort of.

Excuse me if I gag a little. How I pulled this off with out vomiting in my mouth at it's sugary sweetness is a freaking miracle. Sadly it was my best offering.

Childhood Memories

The child inside her stretched and shifted. She framed her belly and smiled up. When she younger, this tree was the tallest peak. It was surrounded by volcanoes, and ice floats. It was a tower above a thick forest.

“I remember our first kiss.” She said. Jarred peered down the tree at his best friend. He fell in love with her, in this tree.

“Yeah, me too. I was a pirate and you were my wench.” She yawned, he climbed down.

“Well, I’m still your wench and she needs a nap.” Great another chance to hold her.

"Yaargh"

    1. "I was a pirate and you were my wench." - very unexpected, and completely brilliant. I can see it now. :)

    1. Were you thinking about Pirate day? I still want to get a corset like the one you has made. The Sleeves the attached made you look like Captain Hook.

  3. It IS a sweet story...and I don't think that hurts it at all. Especially with the original imagery you use - the tree surrounded (for a child) by volcanoes and ice, the tree as a tower, and yes, the pirate and wench. It's those unexpected images that make the story work, I think.

  5. Except for the pregnancy, with the unusual images of a pirate and a wench... it feels like a fairy tale. Nice work. I'm #30 on the list.

    1. I'll be sure to check yours out. I was trying to imply that these two has spent a good portion of their lives near this tree. Maybe I didn't hit that nail correctly. This might be something I'll end up redoing over the weekend. Thank you.

  8. I like your vomit in the mouth comment. haha Only because I'd probably feel the same way if I wrote something this sweet. We have a certain way people see us. Images to uphold, reputations to protect, and all that other jazz.

    1. Exactly, I felt dirty after submitting this. I still want to vomit a little bit. Thanks for getting that.

  9. It was sweet, but good. I wonder if the third word should be 'inside' rather than 'insider'?

    I'm a bit late, but here: http://worksbyclaire.wordpress.com/2012/08/19/short-story-recipe/

  10. Not too sickly sweet! I like the idea of revisiting all the things the tree once was in their imagination.

    1. It was sticky sweet enough. Though I think if I I had a tree like this I'd probably still want to play in it. Thanks for reading and leaving your link.
