Actually Sexy is the New Sexy. With that said, I'm finally in school; have been for two months. I could go into every minute detail about it or I can just say that I'm happy to be finally working toward another goal. I'll go with the latter choice. But I will wax a little about what I have done class wise.
The first class was called Information Literacy. Recommended for every student upon entering. I'm glad I took it first and not something else because I learned how to navigate the schools online library, their actual library, write a research paper and give a non-DOD related presentation. Pretty freaking fancy if you ask me.
The class I'm midway through right now is Introduction to Psychology I may or may not have said on Facebook several times that I was intimidated by the class prior to sitting through the first lesson. I have since changed my mind. It's a little time consuming but otherwise not as scary as I thought it would be.
What I am most worried about is the fact that while I'm taking a class twice a week in the evenings I still haven't found a job. There is this crazy guilty feeling in the back of my mind that urges me to keep searching. Whenever I do search, every other day, I just become depressed. There is this feeling of utter hopelessness when I check my emails and find that all of the employers I've contacted have failed to reply. I try not to let that discourage me. Most important, is that this feeling does not bleed into my studies.
I'm motivated to succeed at something. Almost two years of constant failure, on the job front, motivates me to do well. I do find myself getting fixated though on wanting to succeed just to succeed and not to retain information and that will lead me to become overconfident. I guess my motto should be, strive for the best, but always stay humble. I don't know, something like that or some other Jedi Yoda-style proverb, what ever. Before any people with much higher levels of education go all grammar nazi on my fragmented sentence, I meant to write it that way.
Overall I guess I'm about 50% content with how life is progressing. I want a job, and I look. I want to go to college and I'm in college. Now, if I can just get rid of my dog's fleas, and figure out what in the world is going on with my love life, I think I'd be a pig in mud? A perv at a peep show? A geek at Comic-Con? Kid in a candy shop? An NRA member at a gun show? Do any of these work right now? Anyone? Anyone?

Catch Me Up Yo...
I've been a very busy girl.
The place is finally RFKAO free so I've been doing a bunch of things here and there to make this place completely inhabitable. For yours truly of course. I entertained the idea of getting another roommate, but then I like living by myself way too much.
I've also been getting ahead of myself with the book reviews. I'm two weeks ahead thanks to the last three wonderfully awesome books. So since I've pretty much gotten a week off I figured I'd tackle some rather important things.
My GI Bill where do I start? It always seems way easier when you're in the service to get things done because there are people who's sole job is to run paperwork for every one else. God I miss those people. When I was on board the ships I never appreciated them. I could totally use one now.
But alas I went up to school to hand them some random form and they sent me on a wild goose chase across Down Town San Diego. Good thing I had my comfy sandals on. I think I would have given up if I hadn't. I feel positive though that I'll get everything squared away with plenty of time to spare before school starts.
Mother is coming to town at the end of July and frankly the idea scares me. I love her to death, however when we seem to be in the same room for long periods of time, I just want to bite her face off. My good friend thinks I need a hobby. He may be right. Mom has given me a tentative itinerary for her time with me and it involves a lot of road tripping. I think I'm going to have to pass on some of that. I don't know how well my Chewy travels and I can't afford a kennel for him. May be I should take up some meditation or something.
The job hunt has continued, the approach to it has changed though. Since I stopped working for the agency last Monday there's been a need to find a summer job and quickly. What I realized today is that I'm not the only one looking for a summer job AND that just sucks. But my rent is paid all the way to September so I guess I'm not in that much of a hurry.
I wish I could say that I've been busy working on the book. That isn't the case. All the notes on the massively clever chapter seven are still in note and voice recording phase. I'm actually glad I took the time to record it because I think I'd be stuck otherwise. But I'd rather have notes than nothing at all. I wonder how much should I devote to it? Am I cheating myself if I just throw something there and play catch up? What a crook!!! Never skimp on the book. If there is time, WRITE. If there isn't time, take notes. Never just throw something together. Who'd buy something just thrown together? Not after the books I've been reading lately.
I wonder about the discipline these writers have. Clearly I lack it and I need to find it quick. Especially as I form the rest of the story. Especially as I plan more and more of what I want to show as the NEXT Great American Novel. (That sounded so romantically cheesy I even gagged a little) I'll ask them. Since I've started telling the authors that I've checking out their book some of them have been really good about opening a dialogue with me. Pretty Fucking cool right?
Maybe now is a good time to cut out the Internet dating and take care of me. I thought I was, but I wasn't. Besides if I really wanted to date I'd pick better guys, not the losers I've been encountering. I don't want to divide myself anymore that I need to and trolling dating sites, believe it or not ,takes up a lot of time.
Until next time - Your Fly is open.

Political Science: The Drop. Sad Face...
Well guys I'm going to have to admit defeat on this here. I clearly was not ready to take on the extra pressure of taking Political Science. I really want to say because it was hard, but that's not the reason.
Let's be honest folks I hate leaving my home. I hate leaving my home so much that I haven't been back to the VA to pick up the meds I so desperately need to be on. I hate leaving my home so much that I haven't been t Volleyball, even though I love to play it. Nor have I been out since I went to the concert two weeks ago. I just outright hate it. Walking Chewy is my only willing break.
If I was lazy about Poly Sci I would not feel so bad. If I had money to burn I would not feel bad. If I already had my degree I would definitely not feel bad. But none of those thing are a factor. Fear and the sense of being over whelmed have gotten the best of me.
So the new plan is: Get more proficient at this hustle. Manage my time a lot better. Train the dog. Reestablish contact with the VA so I can get back on my meds. Begin to be a functional human being again.
I admit that I'm not playing with a full deck. I realized this about a month ago and continued to put it off. It's kind of part of my sickness: to pretend that I'm okay. Really I'm not okay. And truth be told I haven't been able to write anything good since the meds wore off.
I've said it before. It sucks to know that I'll be on medicine for the rest of my life just to function. I should be okay with this since I have been taking medication for Migraines since I was 8. My pride has been injured most because it's not just Migraine medication anymore, and it's not just pills. It's AA, it's therapy, it's everything I abhor just because I can't be left alone. And the less I take care of these things, the further away from my goals I move.
Political Science was a fun and engaging class. My teacher clearly had enthusiasm for his topics every day. I wanted to be there. I wanted to write the papers if only to better my language skills. I just seemed to stay right on the outside of ready for this kind of pressure. Before I freak out and call this a failure, get all emotional and start thinking negative, I need to step back and examine why.
I've done that to the best of my abilities and I came to the conclusion that I can't in all fairness do right by myself with this class unless I handle the immediate needs first. Improve my financial situation, get back on my medications, train the dog because the alternative is killing the little guy and establish a better routine so my plan of attack isn't rushed unorganized and holy.
I think I should make this a list.

Pressure vs. Procrastination
The movers finally dropped of my furniture. I'm excited about this because I have a paper due tomorrow for my Poly-Sci class.
I'd love to sit down and work on it. Now that I have chairs and a couch and my own bed (instead of the air mattress) I can do this. Now that I have all aforementioned items I get to unpack them too. Stacey, my boss at Pleasure Play Pen, is also "encouraging" me to log on more. My customers like me and she wants to feature me. Which to her frustration she can't until I come one more often. For the life of me I need the money, I just can't commit.
What I'd really love to do is push all that off my table and finish the article (yes I said that word) on dating. It's not going anywhere but here in the Dog Log, however comma, I have to do research on it so its not just a normal entry anymore.
The question is: Does money matter in a relationship? I'm going to find out what a few people feel about that. So far I've got some info from Match. com that apparently does a survey every year to track dating trends. Who knew! Not this lil ms.
What to do, unpack write, or get on the lines? Technically I can do two out of three no sweat. But I'll do it later. That feeling of being overwhelmed is wining this battle. I really think I'm about to shut down sadly I'm not allowed so I'll do something light like set up the TV or something.
Oh and I dyed my hair Auburn, it's not Auburn. It's not what I wanted but at least it's not really bad.

Lost in AA
Tonight I decided to forgo the hot lines and went looking for a new AA meeting. I got on the website and searched out one Downtown. There is one closer to my home but I went last week and the Secretary gave me the heebegeebees. But in a pinch I'm always welcome as is the way in AA. I really wanted to go tonight even though I promised I'd be on the phones all afternoon into the night.
I took Chewy out for a really long walk this afternoon in preps for leaving him home alone. Got back just in time to run late. Never the less, with directions save to my smart phone I trotted off to the bus stop.
In an uncharacteristic moment of zen, two #10s pass by. Normally you'll see two 7s followed by one 10 bus. This does not bode well for Ms. Townes. The meeting starts at 6:30, it's 5:45 already and I have to change buses once. Google said the trip will take 53 minutes, yep, no bueno.
Because I know the first leg of my trip will take a while I break out my Ipod and read some book I have saved on it. Some preggo heroine is being attacked by some angry magical being. For this heroine, it's all in a days work. No worries. Yeah for her, for me I just missed my stop.
On foot I decided to consult my smart phone again to make sure I'm at least close. Some how I decided I was and began huffing it in the wrong direction. Backtracking to the correct street I'm now wondering why I can't find the building. Well because I'm on the right street, which is good, but ten-twelve blocks away, which is not good.
It's now 6:20, I'm just going to crash the party late. I managed to get some good news from a hostess at a place called Ravioli's. They said that I am about a brisk 14 minute walk away from the street I want. By 6:40, I'm so close I can almost smell the bad coffee, but I have to pee so bad I need to stop.
Hindsight is always the first thing on my mind, I should have asked to use the facilities at Ravioli's. I'm sure they would have let me. The place was a little out of the way from the center of Downtown SD. Repeat business you know... Albertson's appears out of nowhere. You gotta love supermarkets and their non public bathrooms, that all the public uses. The good news is it's only a block over from where the meeting SHOULD be. The bad news is that it's now 6:55. I might as well give up the ghost.
Well it is a supermarket so I'll pick up a few things.
On the way to the nearest bus going back towards Downtown center, I actually see this place. It's a nice one, I'm really sad that I missed it. I don't think the coffee would have smelled bad either. I mean I can't drink that stuff but I can enjoy the smell. There's a few people standing outside the place when I pass by. The meeting has been over for at least ten minutes but I'm afraid (there's that word again) to approach them. Seriously it's AA I can admit that I'm a member, that's one thing, but to walk up to a random stranger and say "hey did the AA meeting just let out," is another.
I sort of feel like I'm violating their anonymity, by asking them so I walk by, continuing to scope the place out as much at I can before I head back home. Hindsight again says I should have toughed out the creepy secretary and went to the closer meeting. It not only started later so I would have made it. I would have gotten home in enough time to actually get on the phone tonight.
But I'm not done. Determined to get my AA on for the night, I decided to log on to the open recovery chat. Where I am immediately harassed by someone one for saying I need a new sponsor. Not to insult my sponsor but she and I have not talked in a very long time. I said this much and got my ass chewed for saying I need more guidance.
Someways I can see how I may have provoked her. Other ways I'm not at fault. I've maintained my sobriety for almost six months. I'm proud of that, I take offense to some random person who admits that they drank tonight yelling at me for wanting to fire my sponsor. One I'm not firing her. Two the last thing she said to me was good information so there's no need to fire her. The point I made and this "person" seemed to miss was that I need more guidance. I'm not going to sink to her level though. I told her I forgave her for trying to irritate me, and proceeded to ignore her. She eventually left the chat.
Which brings me to this: Why argue with people you don't know? Why take so much pleasure in causing someone else discomfort. What does one gain?
My Alkie brian wants to dismiss her just because she'd been drinking. Thus I get to say "ha I'm better than you," but the real problem is not two alkies arguing. The real problem is two people who have no ties trading insults over the internet.
I've got a picture for that ...
The whole AA experience tonight was ruined because of piss poor internet protocol. I truly needed to make a meeting today. I lost my temper with Chewy. I yelled at him and the poor guy cowered. I've been frustrated over not making enough money lately, and I haven't been able to write, and I missed class on Wednesday.
I was/am on my own last nerve. When I get like this I need to reach out. AA is a ready support system, even if you don't always get what you want. 99.9% of the time you'll get what you need.
So the plan after fighting the VA tomorrow part 3, I shall find the nearest AA meeting and get my fellowship on.
Tonight though I'll pray for Serenity.

Star Wars and Pink Eye
After a very, and I mean very haphazard weekend, I had to start school today. Chewy my love is an interesting individual. He pees on my floor, won't go number two, and only fully relaxes when he's on my lap.
Talk about co-dependence...
I suppose I got what I asked for in a dog who doesn't say much and just wants to be loved. Well that would be the good point.
So at first I was really okay with the fact that he humps everything. Now that I understand that he's trying to be the Alpha, I'm not too okay with it anymore. It appears that both Chewy and I need some training. He also is the most picky eater in the WORLD. Talk about a waste of dog food. First off he doesn't like the food, second he only likes the treats. Third, the vet said that the reason he doesn't eat it is because he seems to be allergic to it.
WHISKY TANGO FOXTROT!!!
My dog has allergies???
Ready for more bad news? No, neither was I. So the other day, well yesterday. I looked into his big brown eyes and noticed this crude floating across it. Nasty. Well I was going to wipe it off but I found out that Chewy does not like when you mess with his eyes. But that's not why I rushed my Lhasa Apso to the vet. No I took my free vet exam voucher to the nearest clinic and cashed in because he doesn't poop.
What does that mean, everyone, every THING poops. Not this guy and I was getting concerned. So like every new mamma I took my baby in. I figured while I was there I'd mention that crap in his eyes. Funny, that he's not going number two is supposedly normal. Yeah in what dimension? But she looked at his eyes and said something I'd never expected to hear from a vet.
Hey it looks Chewy may have caught a little case of Conjunctivitis. My slow brain runs through all the nicknames for nasties that I know and come up with PINK EYE. eeewwwww nasty Chewy, just Nasty.
So he gets his drops which I have to administer every night, a pill for his monthly flea treatment, and a recommendation to change his food, immediately. They run some blood work on him and tell me they'll call me in the morning. I am really not sure what I should do now. Should I take him back to the Shelter? Would I be a bad mamma if I did.
I really wanted a companion. He's turning out to be a little more than I can handle right now. But when he lays in my arms just content to be with me, I wonder if I am wrong? Confuzzled Face!
Class started today and let me tell you it was a doozy. Political Science is not something for the flighty. Oh no, this class demands that you actually USE that thing in your head. Seriously. It's odd, but for the last six years, I've been told to memorize information to the point where I can regurgitate it in my sleep. Now I'm being told to not only understand the information I'm given, I'm know supposed to form my OWN opinion about it. Just call me Lamb chops, BHAHHHHH.
Switching from mindless automaton to free thinker on serious matters this morning before I'd had any Starbucks was the rudest possible awakening of my day. Well unless you count Chewy having Pink Eye. Now that I'm in regular society I have to remember that: 1 not to operate at the level of disrespect I'm accustomed to. And 2 I'm not a sheep and I must think for myself in the area of academics. Clearly I've been thinking on my own for most my life. Just going from being given the answers to finding and understanding the answers is truly an experience.
The first lecture was about Democracies, Anarchys, Aristocracies, and a bunch of other cracies that are or have been at work around the world. The Professor (I didn't even get the guys name) began with the basics set forth by Athenians like 600 BC. Breaking it down as he moved forward to this era.
None of which makes any sense to me until it clicked. The word Republic! A bunch of qualified people charged with the job of making decisions on the people's behalf. Sound familiar, it should that's how this country is supposed to run. So when Professor begins talking about how the Republics of history failed, I get a random picture of Chancellor Palpatine accepting the roll as ruler for a frighted Senate in Star Wars.
The more I start thinking of how the Republic failed itself in Star Wars, everything starts clicking into place. At least I can now understand what the hell is going on in class. So now that I'm once again on track I am confident I'll at least pass the class with a better understanding of this Nation State. May the Force be with me.
Truly though, as I have said before, the world I make up seem infinitely cooler.

Chewy
I decided before I moved to San Diego that I was going to get a dog. Today after a grueling trek all over San Diego I fell in love with Chewy. A six year old dustmop. Looks like Chewbacca except gray. You know why I like this dog? He reminds me of the dog from the first Sex and the City movie. You the little Yorkie that humps everything.
So Chewy is a four legged pervert. Works out great since I'm a pervert too!!! Has a problem with mounting things. Tried to hump my leg until I told him to chill. Then, Chewy actually climbed into my lap. They weren't kidding about that lap dog thing.
So when the folks at the San Diego Humane Society so patiently walked me through every pen to meet every small dog they had, I saw something. Despite their popularity there seemed to be a large number of Chihuahuas. Personally I can't stand the little ankle biters, but I thought people liked them.
I'm not going to advocate for them, because I hate them, I am going to say that even they need love too. You'd think since Gidget, the Taco Bell dog was so famous, everyone would want one... Lets not forget Legally Blonde and her dog Bruno, or that silly Chihuahua movie. Who knows.
Anyway Chewy is a Lhasa Apso and something else. He was found somewhere near Oceanside (I haven't been there yet, so don't ask) in serious danger of dying. He was severely underweight covered in fleas and his coat had matted all over his body. His lucky to be alive. Especially lucky to have me because they named him Cookie. That's a terrible name for a male dog.
Nothing else is going on in Tia world today other than I got to pick up my school books. I think I'm going to drop one of my classes. It seems to me that if I need the same book for two classes I might be taking the same class twice. No Bueno. Well I don't want that so I guess I should check into that on Monday. May be I'll do that after my Political Science class... I can tell this will be the challenge class. Probably a good thing I'm getting out the way now, before I have a full time schedule in the Fall.

Waiting for the Internet
I was supposed to have my Internet installed on Sunday. Last time I had to deal with the American Cable company they didn't work on Sunday. But I guess times are a changing.
After talking to several flamboyantly gay men on the phone, I was: A)Pretty sure my name was Honey and B) Utterly confused about what day these people were coming to do the install.
Picture Ms. Townes sitting in her sinfully tiny apartment contemplating breakfast, cereal or cereal, when there is a knock on the door. Is it Powdered Toast Man? No, it's Brian from the cable company.
Of course like every closet slob, I'm going to scramble to pick up all my random stuff scattered around the place (IE. the random bra in the kitchen). I let Brian in and he immediately begins trying to sell me stuff. Ha Ha I have my own equipment, beat that! After some serious haggling, and a cheerfully bad trade of sea stories (another freakin Sailor), my Internet was installed.
So stoked am I that I completely forget the list of crap I HAD planned for today. Instead I plopped myself in front of Mac and surfed the net. Forget the fact that school starts next week and I still haven't purchased my books. Or the fact that I still need to make my way to the VA. Or the fact that I have to return another modem back to Radio Shack. No, nope, none of that matters. I have service.
Totally, I have my priorities here.
Not a complete waste of a day though. While I was trolling through all that is the World Wide Web, I got myself off the wait list and into a seat for a second class. Joy, Happy Face!!! I got moved up the list on the other wait listed class from 5 to #3. I'm hoping someone drops the class so I can just get it out the way. Who wants to take Poly Sci anyway. Sounds terribly boring, and not humorous. I mean the only time I need to know about how politics applies to me is during the election year. Oh HAHAHA it is the election year.
*******
Yesterday instead of posting something lengthy and clever I threw up the link to the website I have for the books. I managed to get up The New God's Chapter 4, then six hours later and with even less fanfare, I put up chapter 5.
Would you like to know how I did that? No? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway. Remember Kill Bill Vol. I + II? No? Where are you people coming from? Do you not have TV? Anyway here for your education. You know how Kill Bill was supposed to be one extremely long movie then he cut it in half and made two almost completely different films? Talk about a run on sentence... Yeah well that's what happened to chapters 4 and 5 in The New God. Chapter four was becoming a marathon in my patience, best thing I could have done was either scratch it all together or make another chapter. Plan B won.
In Chapter four, Celine and Will have a late lunch and discuss how the spell in Chapter 3 failed. He tells Celine to meet him out in a field at 8 that night. There they will try the spell again with "provisions" they will need to complete it. She later goes to the team truck to process some updated information about the trip they are going on, when Verine'e (VEER-UH-NEE) drops by.
Someone on eFiction called Verine'e little miss perfect. Sounded a little antagonistic towards her as well. Good I like that I was able to bring out that particular feeling. You're not supposed to trust Verine'e. She is one of those people who fall into the unknown variable category.
Verine'e through a method I will not say disarms Celine to tell her about the cargo, she's transporting. This cargo by the way is like super hush hush, so how Verine'e found out about it is a mystery. Here you get a little back history about the world I'm creating. I'm going to throw a big word out here people: Dystopia, think opposite Utopia. I'm not, at this point in the story, ready to explain how the world came to this but, here I give a boarder view of the whole canvas. If that makes any sense I'm feeling a bit leery on that sentence...
Chapter 5 begins with Celine driving a jeep alone in the desert. She is out looking for Will. She is accosted by a starving mountain lion. When she barely survives the attack she does manage to find Will, and another member of the team who is then sent off to get help. With the other guy no longer present Will, who knows exactly what to do to help her heal, does exactly that.
When Celine is rejuvenated, she has so much power flowing through her she can't control it. Poor Celine never felt so good in her life, she takes advantage of the moment and seduces Will, whom she'd been secretly (cough* cough* everyone knows*) crushing on for years. Will can't resist. Goremance I'm telling you...
That's the recap of what yesterday brought. Take a look at the website click on The New God Ch.1 the other four chapters are at the bottom of that first sub page. Happy Reading, I think I might actually go food shopping now.
